DEPARTMENT OF DRAMA
LECTURER
In pursuit of the ideals of excellence and diversity, the University of Pretoria wishes to invite applications for the following vacancy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Provide academic and practical teaching in Directing, Theatre-making and Acting at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
- Undertake academic administration and other duties as determined by the Head of Department;
- Be involved in module and curriculum development;
- Contribute scholarly publications and creative research projects;
- Supervise creative projects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
- Supervise postgraduate research at the appropriate level;
- Participate in the Department’s strategic initiatives relating to teaching, research and community engagement.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A doctoral degree in Drama/Theatre/Performance Studies;
- A track record in research and creative production;
- Appropriate teaching experience in Directing, Theatre-making and Acting Theory and practice at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
- A track record of postgraduate supervision;
- A portfolio of professional creative work.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- Appropriate language and communication skills;
- Appropriate computer skills;
- Appropriate professional experience.
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
- Three years’ appropriate teaching experience at tertiary level;
- A professional award for creative work;
- Experience in supervising creative work at postgraduate level;
- Experience in intermedial theatre/performance praxis.
The total remuneration package for this position ranges from approximately R 437 905 to R 579 726 as determined by UP policy guidelines. (These amounts include the University’s contributions to standard UP benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral cover, but exclude contributions to medical aid, as the latter varies per employee.) UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
