The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences is one of five faculties at the University of Adelaide. Comprised of five schools and a number of disciplines, research centres and institutes, the faculty is focused on education excellence and innovative research in the health sciences. Programs taught out of the faculty train medical practitioners, dentists, nurses and psychologists and other health professionals and scientists. The faculty boasts one of the largest concentrations of leading researchers, academic teachers and clinical titleholders working across the areas of health and related fields.

The School of Psychology currently comprises approximately 25 academic and research staff, over 100 Clinical Title Holders and Visiting Research Fellows and around 90 Higher Degree by Research (PhD) students, 60 Honours students, and 50 Masters students. The current number of students enrolled in Year 1 Psychology (as part of the Bachelor of Psychological Science or as an elective) is around 750. Research in the School, which includes various methodologies, including experimental, quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods, spans across three streams: “Health, Disability and Lifespan”, “Brain and Cognition”, and “Social and Organisational”. 

The School of Psychology offers students a range of accredited pathways to becoming a psychologist.  At postgraduate level, the School is unique in South Australia in offering three professional Master programs leading to registration as a Psychologist (Clinical, Health and Organisational and Human Factors).

The School is in the process of refreshing and renewing its teaching methods and offerings, and is seeking energetic and enthusiastic staff to contribute to these endeavours. The School also wishes to strengthen its research performance and capacity, and is especially keen to continue to evolve in translational, interdisciplinary and industry related research, to attract funding and improve impact.

Lecturer (Level B)/Senior Lecturer (Level C) in Health Psychology

1.0 FTE, Teaching and Research focused role (Registration as a psychologist and Endorsement in Health Psychology with the Psychology Board of Australia is highly desirable but not essential). The successful candidate we seek may be appointed to Senior Lecturer (Level C) or higher given relevant experience.

 

Lecturer (Level B)/Senior Lecturer (Level C) in Psychology

1.0 FTE, Teaching and Research focused role in any area of psychological science (which may include but not restricted to cognitive psychology, developmental/child psychology, clinical psychology, health psychology, organisational psychology). The successful candidate may be appointed to Lecturer Level B or Senior Lecturer Level C.

 

Associate Lecturer (Level A) in Psychology

Job No: 497545

1.0 FTE, Teaching focused role

The successful candidate will be appointed at Level A for a fixed term of one year.

With the exception of the Level A position, all other appointments will be continuing positions.

 

Remuneration

Remuneration for the roles is offered based on the successful candidate’s skills and abilities
