Assistant Professor for Ecology
The College of Mount Saint Vincent is an academically excellent, authentically inclusive, Catholic and ecumenical liberal arts college with approximately 1,500 undergraduate students and 300 graduate students, located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, New York City. Our beautiful 70-acre campus of rolling lawns and wooded hills overlooking the Hudson River is just 12 miles from midtown Manhattan.
Job Description
The Biology Department (Division of Natural Sciences) at the College of Mount Saint Vincent invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2018. We are seeking a broadly trained ecologist with a strong field orientation and expertise in organismal biology. Teaching responsibilities will include courses for science majors such as lower-level Ecology and Environmental Biology courses and upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of expertise (e.g., Invertebrate Zoology, Entomology, Plant Biology, Aquatic, Estuarine or Marine Biology). The 12-credit hour semester’s teaching load might also include our introductory biology sequence, our senior capstone course, or a non-majors course. The successful candidate must be committed to undergraduate teaching and is expected to establish a research program involving undergraduates.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. is required
- Postdoctoral research and teaching experience preferred
