Clinical Faculty - Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

The Aga Khan University, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology invites applications from appropriately qualified candidates for the position Full Time Clinical Faculty in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, based primarily at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi, outreach clinics, reporting to the Chair – Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

 

Responsibilities

The Clinical Faculty will undertake clinical functions under the supervision of the Department Chair or delegated Faculty within the outreach clinics and the Department. In this role, the Faculty consults at outreach clinics, admits, and undertakes diagnosis and treatment of patients admitted within the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi. He/she may prescribe or request certain tests or perform certain procedures without supervision.  The Clinical Faculty undertakes procedures that they are credentialed to perform and refers all other procedures to specific subspecialized faculty.

In addition, they will:

• Provide patient care services in accordance with the departmental guidelines and standard operating procedures
• Participate in establishing various planning parameters for addressing referral cases received at AKUHN.
• Engage nursing, outreach clinic staff and ward staff in ensuring that all treating equipment is functional and available for patient care/treatment.

 

Requirements

• Master of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
• Registration by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board
• Attained Specialist recognition in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
• Minimum Basic Life Support and preferably Advanced Life Support Obstetrics training
