Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to assist in research and provide specialist health economics support for two concurrent projects: a Medical Research Council funded project seeking to establish a monetary threshold for a year of sufficient capability, for use in the context of public health and social care; and a Department of Health funded project seeking to evaluate the Care Act 2014, and more specifically, attempts by local authorities to avoid or delay the need for social care.

The role would involve: attending project meetings; conducting some qualitative work; inputting and analysing data from well-being and resource-use questionnaires; analysing data from an online valuation survey; contributing to the drafting of academic papers; dissemination of results to research participants.

 

Person Specification

  • Degree or equivalent in Economics, Health Economics or a relevant subject area (ideally at a Masters level)
  • Practical experience of applying the relevant skills and techniques
  • Advanced skills in data management & analysis, using MS Excel and STATA
  • Formal training or experience in one or more of the following areas: Costing; qualitative methods; economic evaluation of social care
  • Ability to analyse information and communicate effectively
  • Ability to access and organise resources successfully
  • Basic knowledge of the definition, scope and provision of adult social care in the UK
