The development and opening of our Dubai Campus will mark us out as the first global top 100 and Russell Group University to establish a campus in Dubai.   Initially we will offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including Economics, Teacher Education, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering and Business.  Our ambition over the next ten years is to grow the University of Birmingham Dubai to around 4,500 students studying on a full range of programmes; and to establish an active programme of research.

Over the next 5 years we will be establishing a sector leading campus at the heart of Dubai’s rapidly developing international educational hub with the talent, creativity and tenacity that will help realise our ambition, strength, and commitment to being an outstanding global university.

 

Our Campus      

The new University of Birmingham Dubai Campus will be located in Dubai International Academic City (DIAC), a dedicated site hosting 25 international universities and colleges located in easy reach of the internationally renowned Dubai business district and 23 km from centre of Dubai. Phase 1 is due to be opened late 2017 with our first students starting and teaching commencing September 2018. The University of Birmingham School of Education, is seeking to appoint a Dubai based Lecturer (Teaching focused) in Primary Education. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced teacher educators to play a key role for the School of Education’s Teacher Education programmes at the Dubai campus.  With the launch of the University’s branch campus in 2017, you will lead the development and implementation of our external presence in the region.

You will work closely with the Edgbaston Campus, UK, to lead on the development and delivery of the Primary PGCE as well as contribute to the management, leadership and enterprise activities of the school.

 

You will

  • Normally, hold a higher Degree in a relevant Subject area or a closely related discipline or equivalent qualifications and/or experience.
  • Hold  UK QTS
  • Be able to Demonstrate excellence in Learning and Teaching, and Management and administration.
  • Have an excellent teaching profile and performance in terms of both impact and quality and be able to demonstrate that it is informed by an appropriate level of scholarship. 
  • Be able to demonstrated significant achievement in management and administration-related activities, which may include leadership of activities/initiatives.

All posts are based in Dubai. For the first few months of the appointment you will be seconded to the University of Birmingham Edgbaston campus in the UK for induction in preparation for delivering the Birmingham teaching experience in Dubai. Whilst on secondment you will be provided with accommodation and expenses.
