Job Details
Researchers in the QuinteT team undertake QuinteT Recruitment Interventions (QRIs), integrated in nationally funded randomised controlled trials (RCTs). QRIs aim to understand the reasons for recruitment difficulties, and then researchers work with the study lead and management group to optimise recruitment and informed consent.
The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for interviewing members of the trial management group, including the chief investigator and the consultants leading the trial in clinical centres, as well as research nurses and other staff recruiting patients to the RCT.
There may also be interviews with some patients. Other tasks will be observing and analysing audio-recordings of trial recruitment appointments, designing and encouraging the use of screening logs, and working out patient recruitment pathways. There will also be the opportunity to undertake some novel mixed method sub-studies and methodological research. Methods of analysis are likely to include constant comparative techniques, ethnographic approaches, and targeted discourse and conversation analysis.
Applicants will need proven skills in qualitative data collection, analysis and writing up. In particular, they will need experience and expertise in interviewing ('one to one' and in groups), observation, and a range of qualitative data analysis techniques.
