RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will assist the Technical Manager in carrying out maintenance responsibilities by attending to technical problems and other related issues in the allocated area of responsibility in accordance with the UP standard and the client’s specific needs, while ensuring compliance with all statutory regulations. To enable the Workshop Manager to achieve these objectives, he/she will need to attend to the following:

  • Comply with statutory requirements with regard to maintenance and operation of installations, machinery, systems and equipment;
  • Operate plant and equipment in accordance with the University’s business requirements;
  • Manage the maintenance execution related to planned and breakdown maintenance.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A National Diploma N6 in the relevant engineering discipline plus seven years’ appropriate experience; OR
  • A N5 qualification in the relevant engineering discipline plus 10 years’ appropriate experience;
  • A valid trade test certificate (Plumbing);
  • Computer literacy in MS Office;
  • Valid driver’s licence.

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

  • Appropriate language and communication skills;
  • Administrative skills to ensure that all records are kept in orderly fashion.

 

PLEASE NOTE:

The total remuneration package for this position ranges from approximately R 428 870 to R 529 717 as determined by UP policy guidelines. (These amounts include the University’s contributions to standard UP benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral cover, but exclude contributions to medical aid, as the latter varies per employee.) UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
