Faculty Position in Biology

American University of Sharjah seeks a PhD in Biology or a biology-related field to fill a full-time faculty position in the Department of Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences (BCE). AUS biology faculty are required to participate in the instruction of general biology courses in addition to advanced courses related to their area of expertise, as well as establish a productive research program at AUS.

The successful candidate will have:

            • A PhD in Biology or a biology-related discipline

            • An established, or potential to establish, record of excellence in teaching, research and service

 

The preferred candidate will have:

  •          experience in North American style of higher education
  •          expertise in one or more of the following areas: conservation biology, ecosystem biology
  •          ability to teach environmental modeling and/or ecosystem management

BCE offers Bachelor of Science degrees in biology, chemistry and environmental sciences and minors in biology, environmental sciences and environmental policy. The department currently has 16 full-time faculty members actively engaged in research in diverse areas within the three disciplines.

AUS is located in the Emirate of Sharjah, adjacent to Dubai, UAE. The university was founded in 1997 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.  AUS is an independent, not-for-profit coeducational university, serving more than 5,600 students from 95 nationalities. AUS is licensed and its programs are accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation of the Ministry of Education's Higher Education Affairs Division in the United Arab Emirates. AUS is accredited in the United States of America by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
