School of Historical and Philosophical Inquiry

The School of Historical & Philosophical Inquiry (HPI) is a dynamic team with a reputation for innovative approaches to teaching and research excellence. The School considers how human beings have ordered and made sense of their world throughout history, from ancient times through to the present, and how this informs our futures. Our disciplinary groupings of Classics and Ancient History, Studies in Religion, Philosophy and History are united by this common intellectual quest, and are mutually reinforced and supported by each discipline’s distinct approaches, perspectives and methodologies. Through our research, teaching and engagement activities, we seek to further and disseminate knowledge about these aspects of humanity. In doing so, we serve our scholarly communities, our students, and our wider societies. We aspire to quality and best practice in all that we do.

 

The role

The successful appointee will coordinate and teaching into the new Humanities Futures minor in the BA and work closely with the new Head of School in relation to the changes currently underway in the relevant BA majors. The appointee will also work with colleagues (including those with disciplinary overlaps such as the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities) in the development of joint research projects.

 

The person

Applicants should possess qualifications in relevant disciplines and have expertise in the humanities methods and theories. You should also have demonstrated teaching skills, be prepared to innovate in modes of teaching and flexible learning options, have evidence of contribution to research and publications in high quality outlets. The successful applicant will also show a willingness to represent the School, work as part of a team and share discipline and school administrative tasks.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for three years at Academic level B. The remuneration package will be in the range $92.142 - $109,419 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $107,807 - $128,020 p.a.).
