The Faculty of Science
The Faculty of Science is one of the largest and most diverse Faculties within The University of Queensland and within Science Faculties across Australia. The Faculty of Science incorporates seven schools and four research centres. The units within the Faculty of Science are internationally recognised and their teaching and research successes create a stimulating environment within which the Faculty staff work. The Faculty is managed by the Executive Dean, who has direct responsibility for the physical, financial and human resources, academic matters relating to programs and students, and a range of other areas such as the development of research, national and international marketing, and enhanced government, business and community links.
The Science Workshops primary role is to support undergraduate teaching and postgraduate research activities within the Faculty of Science. The same highly specialised services and facilities are also provided to the numerous collaborative, multi-institutional and world class research groups and Centres of Excellence embedded both within and outside the Faculty.
The role
The Workshops Supervisor position provides technically-orientated consultative and design support to workshop clients and technicians, and oversees the operations of the Science Workshops. Duties include supervision of workshop staff, coordination of workshop operations, maintenance and servicing of a range of equipment and teaching aids for undergraduate and research programs, and assisting project leaders in the management of projects requiring technical and design support.
The person
Applicants should possess qualifications and training equivalent to an undergraduate degree in a related field with subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. You should demonstrate the ability to supervise staff, with previous experience in managing the operations of a workshop facility. The successful candidate should also demonstrate technical skills of a high order, with the ability to maintain a wide variety of laboratory equipment.

Renumeration
This is a full-time, continuing appointment at HEW Level 6. The remuneration package will be in the range $74,207 - $79,964 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $86,822 - $93,558 p.a.).
