Job Details

Founded over a hundred years ago, the University of Bristol has revolutionised society with its cutting-edge research and education. An international powerhouse of learning, discovery and enterprise, the University’s excellence is acknowledged locally, nationally and globally. As a Russell Group university ranked in the top 50 universities in the world (QS 2018), Bristol’s future will be as remarkable as its past.

We are recruiting for three Philanthropy Managers to join our dynamic, highly respected and fast-growing Development and Alumni Relations (DARO) team. This is an exciting opportunity to help deliver a principal and major donor giving strategy that aims to increase our philanthropic cash income and new funds raised. This will be achieved by cultivating strong relationships with existing and potential donors, to raise significant levels of philanthropic income (gifts and grants of four to six figures) via face-to-face asking and grant applications.

You will have experience of working in a large, complex and diverse organisation in a Major Gifts Fundraising or similar role. As well as strong interpersonal skills, you will be able to influence and built rapport quickly with donors, prospects, and senior stakeholders. You will also have a clear understanding of fundraising regulation, policies, guidelines and legislation, and the requirements for individual and institutional compliance. Finally, you will have a strong belief in the importance of universities to society, and an awareness of the financial challenges facing the higher education sector and the role of philanthropy.

DARO’s vision is to ‘unite our global community to inspire positive change and transform people’s lives’.  The team culture is optimistic, collaborative and highly professional, where individual and team success is recognised in equal measure. Recently, significant investment has been secured to grow the DARO team. This investment will help to build on current strengths, extend our work with alumni, partners and supporters and harvest many new opportunities.

The University is committed to creating and sustaining a fully inclusive culture. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities.
