The School of Biomedical Sciences

The University of Queensland School of Biomedical Sciences is a distinguished centre for teaching and research in the academic disciplines of Anatomy, Developmental Biology, Physiology, Pharmacology and Pathology. The School has more than 40 full-time research and teaching staff and is one of the largest Schools of its type in Australia. It has links to other prestigious research centres on the St Lucia campus including the Queensland Brain Institute (QBI), the Institute of Molecular Bioscience (IMB) and the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN). Our diverse research provides an exciting environment for national and international research fellows and higher degree students. In addition to its graduate research programs, the School teaches undergraduate students in Science, Medicine, and Health Sciences.

 

The role

An understanding of Biomedical Science disciplines including Physiology, Anatomy and Histology is essential for the practice of medicine and the allied health professions. The position will provide expertise in the teaching of these disciplines within undergraduate allied health programs, including Nursing and Midwifery, and the postgraduate Doctor of Medicine program, with an important emphasis on clinical relevance. The position will contribute to the teaching and mentorship of students and enhance the School’s scholarship profile.

 

The person

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative academic who will contribute to the teaching and mentorship of students and enhance the School’s scholarship profile. The position will be offered at Level B (Lecturer) or Level C (Senior Lecturer) depending on experience. Candidates with broad teaching experience in Physiology, Anatomy and/or Histology in medicine and allied health programs are encouraged to apply. Teaching & Research and Teaching-Focused Academics will be considered.

This role is a full-time position; however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

 

Remuneration

This is a full-time, continuing appointment at Academic level B or C. The remuneration package will be in the below ranges, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17%.

  • Level B will be in the range $92,142.74 - $109,419.20 p.a., (total package will be in the range $107,807,01 - $128,020.46  p.a.);

  • Level C will be in the range $112,874.46 - $130,150.91 p.a., (total package will be in the range $132,063.12 - $152,276.56 p.a.)
