The University of Queensland (UQ) is a world class institution which ranks in the world’s top universities. The IML plays an important role in UQ’s community engagement and is part of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. It is one of the largest Institutes of this type in Australia with a staff of language tutors, assessors, course and test developers for 38 languages and of professional staff who provide professional and administrative support.

IML offers the following services: translation, interpreting, scheduled language courses, customised courses for organisations and personalised language learning for individuals & couples and operates on a fee-for-service basis.

The role

You will be responsible for the successful completion of translation and interpreting projects from beginning to end. This requires taking initiative, asking questions, problem solving, documentation of processes, regular status checking and reporting.

The person

If you're the right person for this opportunity, you will have previous experience working in a busy office using Microsoft Office and possess the following:

• Qualifications in translation, languages, business, technology or related field
• Ability to actively close sales, provide exceptional customer service and manage time effectively
• Attention to detail, but also the ability to multi-task
• Excellent English language skills
• Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds

Remuneration

This is a full-time, continuing appointment at HEW Level 5. The remuneration package will be in the range $64,597.80 - $72,348.94 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $ 75,579.43 - $84,648.26p.a.).
