DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL AND AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING

DEPARTMENTAL ADMINISTRATOR B (CONTRACT APPOINTMENT FOR 18 MONTHS)

PEROMNES POST LEVEL 10

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Student and academic related administration;
  • Maintaining the applicable postgraduate student database;
  • Liaising with relevant support services, students, other academic departments, departmental staff and external resources;
  • The on-going maintenance of quality standards for ECSA accreditation visits;
  • Making arrangements for departmental meetings/colloquia/seminars, etc;
  • Departmental and office administration.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicable office administration diploma;
  • At least three years’ relevant experience in the duties mentioned above, performed in a tertiary institution.

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

  • Skilled in the use of MS Office programmes and web based systems Computer proficiency;
  • Appropriate language and communication skills;
  • Organisational abilities;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to adhere to due dates.

 

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

  • BA or equivalent degree;
  • Relevant student administration experience at a tertiary institution;
  • Experience in the use of web based educational systems.

 

PLEASE NOTE:

The all-inclusive remuneration package for this contract position will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines.
