Job Details

The School of Physics at the University of Bristol is looking to appoint a Research Associate within its Correlated Electron Systems research group. This postdoctoral position is part of a EPSRC funded project to investigate ‘Competing Orders and Superconductivity in Cuprate Superconductors’. The position is specifically focussed on measurements of transport and thermodynamic properties of cuprates in very high magnetic field and under hydrostatic pressure. Experiments will be performed both in Bristol and at various high magnetic field facilities such as Toulouse, Nijmegen, Dresden and Tallahassee. You will work in close co-operation with other members of the team including a second postdoc who will focus on x-ray and neutron measurements on the same materials.

 

You should have a Ph.D. in Physics, and should have experience with one of the experimental techniques relevant to the project which include transport measurements, thermodynamic measurements (specific heat), high pressure techniques (piston-cylinder or anvil cells). You should also have significant research experience in studying the fundamental physics of superconductors or related materials.
