Children’s Hospital & Medical Center with the University of Nebraska College of Medicine is recruiting a Division Chief of Pulmonary, Allergy and Sleep.  Children’s is a vibrant free-standing pediatric teaching hospital and Nebraska’s only full service pediatric specialty health care center focused on extraordinary clinical care, education, clinical and outcomes research and advocacy.  The hospital is embarking on transformational programmatic and physical growth to address our local, regional, national and global patient care.  The hospital has a Level IV Regional NICU, Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, Specialized Clinical Pediatric Services, and 24/7 Pediatric Intensivists.  We have 50+ Specialty Clinics, 200+ Specialists, 14 Satellite Offices, Pediatric Fellowship programs, and is Magnet Certified.  Our new campus expansion plans include an additional 100 beds to the existing 145, expansion to the Newborn Intensive Care Unit, Fetal Care Center, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Center including dedicated intensive care, Short-Stay Observation Unit, Emergency Department, and Surgical Services.  The expansion will also provide new facilities to support Education, Clinical & Outcomes Research.   

The Division Chief provides overall clinical leadership for the practice of Pediatric Pulmonology which includes a strong Cystic Fibrosis Care Center as well as an outstanding Sleep Center.  The service includes a multidisciplinary Aerodigestive Diseases Clinic as well as a Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic.  We have a very busy bronchoscopy service.  Our faculty provide and oversee the Ventilator Care Unit at a long-term care facility.  The Division currently has fellowships in Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine.  In addition to the administrative responsibilities of this position, the individual will share in the clinical responsibilities with seven pulmonologists and three allergists.  The Chief will also hold a faculty position at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. The successful candidate will be board certified in Pediatric Pulmonology with strong clinical and leadership experience.  This leader will be responsible to develop and implement the clinical, educational, academic, research, and advocacy goals of the institution for Pulmonology.  The Division Chief will represent the Children’s Hospital & Medical Center leadership for issues affecting Pediatric Pulmonology at all in-patient and outpatient campus sites. 

Candidates will have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.  He/she will have administrative, academic, and clinical practice management experience within a complex, pediatric tertiary care medical center.  We seek individuals with strong emotional and social intelligence and a demonstrated ability to connect with others in a meaningful way at all levels of the organization and university.
