Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in Neuroscience? Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research intensive Universities?

You will take responsibility for day-to-day oversight and strategic direction of a laboratory in the School of Biomedical Sciences working on various aspects of central nervous control of the cardiovascular system, neurovascular coupling and modulation of endogenous neural stem cells. As you will undertake specialist research, expertise will be required in some of the following: neuroanatomy, in vivo recovery surgery, in vitro electrophysiology, immunohistochemistry, optogenetics, use of viral vectors, in vivo imaging. You will also be involved in student supervision, administration and safety, contributing to the strategic direction, development and reporting of the various research projects. You should have a PhD (or be close to completion) in neuroscience or a closely allied discipline as well as extensive previous laboratory experience. A proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and interface with technical staff, students and academic staff is essential. You should also have experience in designing, executing and writing up experimental work independently, including as author of peer-reviewed research publications.
