Job Details

The University of Birmingham is seeking to hire a research associate to support the work of Dr Karen McAuliffe as part of a European Research Council (ERC) funded project on ‘Law and Language at the European Court of Justice’ (LLECJ) by carrying out qualitative interviews at the Court of Justice in Luxembourg and coding/analysis of those interviews using NVivo.

The LLECJ project examines the production of the multilingual jurisprudence of the Court of Justice of the European Union (ECJ) and investigates how that Court functions as a multicultural, multilingual organisation.

 

Job Purpose

  • Carrying out qualitative research interviews with members and employees of the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg.
  • Coding and analysing those interviews using NVivo
  • Preparing regular reports related the interviews and analysis

 

Person Specification

  • PhD or at considerable equivalent experience in a relevant field of study
  • Practical experience of applying the relevant skills and techniques required in qualitative research interviews
  • Experience of coding and analysing qualitative research interviews
  • Willingness and ability to be based in Luxembourg for significant periods of time
