Job Details

Do you want to be part of educating the next generation of vets and vet nurses? Are you ready to join a busy and expanding small animal medicine and emergency and critical care team within a world class university veterinary school?

The University of Bristol’s Veterinary School is seeking to recruit an experienced small animal internist or emergency and critical care clinician with energy, commitment and a passion for scholarship, teaching and clinical research. Experience of, and enthusiasm, for teaching is essential and ideally, you will have a track record of peer-reviewed publications relating to clinical research and/or teaching.

You must hold a Veterinary Degree recognised by the RCVS that allows you to practise veterinary medicine within the UK. A Diploma level qualification in Small Animal Medicine or Emergency and Critical Care is required.

This is primarily a teaching role, delivering and leading the practical and didactic clinical teaching of undergraduate veterinary and veterinary nursing students, and the supervision of clinical postgraduate students. You will also participate in the delivery of a high quality clinical service in small animal medicine within Bristol’s Langford Vets’ Small Animal Hospital.

The small animal medicine team offers a routine service for stable chronic cases as well as an acute service for urgent medical referral cases, where clinicians work alongside the emergency and critical care team. The position would allow for time to be spent in the acute service as well as the chronic small animal medicine service (small animal internist) or in the intensive care unit (emergency and critical care clinician), dependent on the applicant’s experience.

Base salary scales are shown. Additionally, the appointee will be paid veterinary and ‘on-clinics’ allowances.

It is anticipated interviews will be held in January 2018.
