Job Purpose

This is a full time 18 month fixed term teaching focussed post. The post-holder will be expected to take over a teaching portfolio including eukaryotic microbiology and host-pathogen interactions at Undergraduate and Masters level. In addition approximately 20% of the post-holders time will be devoted to providing direct support to UG and Masters level project students. The post-holder will be expected to take on additional undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and administration within the School.

The post holder would be required to use a variety of methods in teaching and advising individuals and groups of undergraduates, postgraduates, or CPD students. In particular, a major responsibility of this post holder will be to deliver teaching in the areas of eukaryotic microbiology and host-pathogen interactions.

 

Person Specification

  • Normally, a higher degree relevant to the research/teaching area (usually PhD) or equivalent qualifications
  • Extensive research/teaching experience and scholarship within the area of microbiology and infection

 

Teaching

  • Ability to design, deliver, assess and revise teaching programmes, especially within the area of eukaryotic microbiology.
  • experience and demonstrated success in developing appropriate approaches to learning and teaching,

 

Management Administration

  • Ability to contribute to School/Departmental management processes
  • Ability to assess and organise resources effectively
  • Understanding of and ability to contribute to broader management/administration processes
