PhD Studentship: Developing chemistries for spatially and temporally controlled imobilisation of li
We are seeking applications for a fully-funded 3-year PhD studentship (covering tuition fees and maintenance at standard RCUK rates estimated £14,826 for 2018 entry) in the research group of Dr Ruchi Gupta in the School of Chemistry.
The PhD project will be focused on developing chemistries for spatially and temporally controlled immobilisation of ligands/ biorecognition elements (e.g. antibodies and aptamers) in porous materials such as hydrogels. The student will characterise the developed chemistries using techniques such as fluorescent imaging, scanning electron microscopy and label-free sensors.
In order to qualify for this studentship you need to hold or obtain a minimum of a good (>65%) upper second class or higher integrated UK masters (MSci/MChem) degree or equivalent in biochemistry or chemistry. Students with a combination of a good UK or equivalent BSc degree followed by an MSc with >60% in all taught elements will also qualify.
Applications can be made via the following link: https://sits.bham.ac.uk/lpages/EPS006.htm. For an informal discussion, please contact Dr Ruchi Gupta by email: email@example.com. For information about the University of Birmingham, visit http://www.birmingham.ac.uk/index.aspx.
