LECTURER / SENIOR LECTURER (ONE POST)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be required to:

• Teach clinical pharmacology at tertiary level, including principles of clinical trials;
• Be intimately involved in research in a related field;
• Act as supervisor for postgraduate students;
• Be involved with curriculum development/innovation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Lecturer:

• A medical or alternatively a related scientific degree at MSc level;
• Teaching experience of at least one year in Pharmacology, Pharmacy or Clinical Pharmacology;
• Research experience in pharmacology;
• Registration with a relevant professional council/body (HPCSA or SAPC).

Senior Lecturer:

• A medical or alternatively a related scientific degree at PhD level;
• Teaching experience of at least three years in Pharmacology, Pharmacy or Clinical Pharmacology;
• Research experience, including supervising postgraduate students in pharmacology;
• Registration with a relevant professional council/body (HPCSA or SAPC).

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

• A strong and proven record of research and postgraduate student supervision in pharmacology;
• Member of a relevant professional society;
• Experience in teaching of undergraduate students in the allied health sciences (eg. Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Radiography, Oral Hygiene and BCMP);
• In possession of MPharmMed degree/ FC Clin Pharm/ AC Clin Pharm.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
