PhD Studentship: Understanding the neural basis of ADHD

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is the most prevalent neurodevelopmental disorder, however the neural changes that underlie the disorder are poorly understood. Recent evidence suggests that a midbrain structure, the superior colliculus, has a central role. The project we envisage will use pre clinical in vivo electrophysiology and possibly behavioural analysis to explore role of the colliculus in ADHD, in particular the possibility that the structure may be a target for ADHD drug therapies.

Overseas students are welcome to apply for funding but must be able to demonstrate that they can fund the difference in the tuition fees. Requirements: We ask for a minimum of a first class or high upper second-class undergraduate honours degree and a distinction or high merit at Masters level in psychology or a related discipline.
