POSITION OVERVIEW

Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) seeks to recruit a Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology

Critical Care Medicine (Chair ACCM). CHLA is one of America's premier pediatric hospitals, ranked #6 on

the prestigious U.S. News & World Report Best Children’s Hospitals Honor Roll for 2017‐2018. CHLA is a

major pediatric teaching hospital and is home to The Saban Research Institute, among the largest and

most productive children’s research facilities in the western United States. CHLA has been affiliated with

the Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern California (USC) since 1932.

The Chair ACCM provides administrative and clinical leadership for the department in alignment with

the enterprise mission, vision, values and goals. The Chair ACCM has overall responsibility for the

academic, clinical, quality, financial, research, educational and reputational well‐being of the

department.

The Chair ACCM will report directly to the President and CEO of CHLA for the role and responsibilities of

the Department Chair. The Chair ACCM will be employed as a faculty member of KSOM and, for faculty

matters, will report to the USC Chair of Anesthesiology.
