Salary:

£39, 993 - £47,722 (with potential to progress to £53,690 once in post) – in addition you will be paid a dislocation allowance for periods when working in Dubai and all reasonable expenses will be covered.

The University of Birmingham will open a campus in Dubai in November 2017, becoming the first global top 100 and Russell Group University to establish a campus in this rapidly developing international education hub. With a strong tradition of teaching excellence The University of Birmingham Dubai will provide opportunities for students to study on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to the same recognised high standards as those delivered on the University’s UK campus in Birmingham.

The University of Birmingham Business School, is seeking to appoint seven teaching focused Lecturer posts who will be based at the University’s Edgbaston Campus in the UK but will be expected to deliver most of their teaching at the University’s Dubai campus.  It is also possible that you will undertake some teaching and dissertation supervision in the UK and/or Singapore.

As a teaching focused lecturer you will contribute to the development, delivery and management of the Business School’s programmes (as appropriate to the disciplinary area) which are due to commence in Dubai in September 2018.  As such you will work extensively with colleagues leading the MSc International Business, BSc Management, and BSc Economics in both the UK and Dubai, as well as contribute to the management, leadership and enterprise activities of the school.

You will

  • Normally, hold a higher Degree (usually PhD) in a relevant Subject area or a closely related discipline or equivalent qualifications and/or experience.
  • Have extensive teaching experience and scholarship within subject specialism.
  • Be able to devise, advise on and manage learning.
  • Possess skills in managing, motivating & mentoring others successfully at all levels.

All posts are based in Edgbaston but it is expected that you will normally undertake five lots of two-week blocks of teaching per year in Dubai.  Whilst teaching in Dubai you will be provided with a dislocation allowance and all reasonable expenses will be covered.
