Student Life Supervisor

The Student Life team is a new service whose aim is to enhance the student experience at the University of Southampton. The team are proactively involved with the student community, across our 7000+ bedrooms located at multiple locations in Southampton and one in Winchester. The work is varied and demanding, ranging from communication and advice, through creating an inclusive community, to supporting students in crisis.

The current role of the Student Life team is to play its part in providing a sociable yet study conducive environment for all the students. While working at night requires that you are comfortable with working independently there is also a strong collaboration required with colleagues in other areas, most notably Residential Services and Enabling Services.

While you are likely to be based at one of our main residential hubs you will be required to move around to other hubs to support the needs of the Service as a whole. As a consequence you must have a driving licence and car to allow you to do this. Free parking and a mileage allowance for travel while at work are two of the additional benefits available to you.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, and experience in providing a support service with a clear priority on customer service. Experience in using the Microsoft Office package to facilitate recording and reporting is essential. You will be qualified to at least A level/ HNC or equivalent or have relevant work experience.

The post is a full-time permanent position working 12 hour shifts of 18:00-06:00 in a 3 on 3 off pattern. The position offers a starting salary of £24,285 with a further 15% shift enhancement in addition to this.
