The role

The successful appointee will conduct protein production using insect and mammalian cell expression systems at the UQ Protein Expression Facility. You will establish and develop effective relationships with facility users and be responsible for training and supervising professional staff and students in animal cell culture. For appointment at HEW Level 6, you will lead and expand the capabilities of the facility in the area of animal cell culture and manage the day-to-day operations and ongoing projects relating to protein production using insect cell and mammalian cell systems.

The person

Applicants should possess a degree in a relevant area or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.  You will have demonstrated proficiency in recombinant protein production, particularly in baculovirus-insect and/or mammalian cell expression systems. Your demonstrated ability in data analysis, record keeping, report writing and presentation of research results make you an ideal candidate for this role. For appointment at HEW 6, applicants should posess a degree in a relevant area with subsequent relevant work experience and have demonstrated ability to design, execute and manage research projects in animal cell culture.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 12 months at HEW Level 5 or 6. The remuneration package will be in the range $64,597 - $72,348 p.a. (Level 5) or $74,207 - $79,964 p.a. (Level 6), plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17%. Total package will be in the range $75,579 – $84,648 p.a. (Level 5) or $86,822 – $93,558 p.a. (Level 6). Appointment level will be dependent on qualifications, skills and experience.
