You will join an established multi-disciplinary team of researchers within the Neuro-rehabilitation research group. The role involves working in a highly integrated multidisciplinary team that includes neurological rehabilitation and motor control researchers, engineers (Imperial College London; ICL), therapists and a neurologist from two NHS Trusts, and two commercial entities, one specialising in medical device design and the other in software and electronics. You will be working closely with an engineering Research Fellow based at ICL, but conducting experiments in the movement laboratories in Southampton. You will also be working closely with clinical colleagues and patients in the NHS Trusts. During the project you will be responsible for running a feasibility study with patients in their own homes. You will be working on the clinical research components of the Mechanical Muscle Activity with Real-time Kinematics (M-MARK) project. The project will use a novel combination of existing technologies to improve arm recovery following stroke. 

The job provides an opportunity for you to develop your academic career and gain a wide range of research experience; you will be supported by an experienced research team who are international leaders of this type of work.

To be successful you will have experience of neuro-rehabilitation, ideally with physiotherapy, occupational therapy or psychology qualification. You will also have experience of qualitative and quantitative research in a laboratory and home environment.  Experience in developing and evaluating of rehabilitation technologies and an interest in rehabilitation technologies is desirable. 

This is a part-time (0.6 FTE) post with a fixed-term contract ending on the 30/06/2018 due to funding restrictions.

The post will require an enhanced DBS check.
