LECTURER

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Research in Physical and/or General Occupational Therapy;
  • The enquiry-based, blended teaching of undergraduate students in the fields of ADL and Physical Occupational therapy;
  • The clinical supervision of undergraduate students in ADL and Occupational therapy for physical conditions at various clinical platforms;
  • Teaching ADL and Occupational Therapy for physical conditions for undergraduate students;
  • The supervision of Masters’ students.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • MOcc Ther or MSc degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent;
  • At least one year’s experience in academic and/or clinical teaching of undergraduate students;
  • At least two years’ clinical experience;
  • Full current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.

 

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

  • An approved research proposal for a PhD in Occupational Therapy;
  • At least one original research article in an accredited journal;
  • A verbal or poster presentation at a national/international congress;
  • Experience in the use of Click-UP or a similar computer-based system;
  • Experience in the supervision of Master’s degree students.

 

The total remuneration package for this position ranges from approximately R 437 905 to R 579 726 as determined by UP policy guidelines. (These amounts include the University’s contributions to standard UP benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral cover, but exclude contributions to medical aid, as the latter varies per employee.) UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
