CAMPAIGN SPECIALIST

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Campaign Specialist manages and oversees the University's institutional wide marketing campaigns and ensures that they are effective and implemented according to the specific campaign's communication plan and objectives. This position oversees campaigns in a variety of formats to include social media, website, direct mail, publications, videos and advertising. The incumbent works in collaboration with internal cross-functional teams, as well as external agencies to execute campaigns and measure and report on their effectiveness.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in communication management/public relations/journalism/marketing management or other related field;
  • Two to three years’ experience in developing marketing communication campaign implementation plans;
  • Two to three years of project management experience;
  • Advertising, digital and CRM marketing knowledge and experience;
  • Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel;
  • Strong technical ability and marketing platform experience.

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

  • Knowledge of:
    • Strategic marketing communication;
    • Project management;
    • Marketing communication research;
    • Tactical and strategic thinking;
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills;
  • Attention to detail and results oriented;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to identify practical and innovative solutions;
  • Able and willing to work, evenings and weekends, as required and to be on call at all times.

 

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

  • Two to three years’ experience in the following:
    • A variety of cross functional marketing communication campaigns from inception to completion;
    • Working to organisational deadlines and KPIs;
    • Working with agencies and third party suppliers;
    • Marketing communication research to acquire data and use it to target selected groups, as well as analyse the success or otherwise of campaigns;
    • Working closely with the marketing team on campaigns as member of the team;
    • Creative problem solving;
    • Customer-focused with the ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers and build effective relationships;
    • As a flexible, collaborative and proactive team member who can operate effectively in a team;
  • Two to three years’ relevant industry experience gained from a similar institution would be a strong advantage;
  • Reporting on campaign results and making recommendations to senior management;
  • Ability to work with different levels across the institution;
  • Stakeholder engagement and management experience;
  • National and international industry benchmarking experience.
  • Project management qualification;
  • Member of at least one of the following:
    • Marketing Association of South Africa;
    • Digital Media and Marketing Association;
    • Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa.

 

PLEASE NOTE:

The total remuneration package for this position ranges from approximately R 506 167 to R 623 921 as determined by UP policy guidelines. (These amounts include the University’s contributions to standard UP benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral cover, but exclude contributions to medical aid, as the latter varies per employee.) UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
