SENIOR FUNDRAISING MANAGER

PEROMNES POST LEVEL 6

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will manage the fundraising team consisting of Senior Development Officers, a Proposal Consultant and a Prospect Manager and is responsible for the:

  • Development, execution and management of the fundraising part of the strategic plan of the Department in consultation with the Deputy Director: Relationship Management and Fundraising;
  • Effective functioning of the fundraising team through continuous operational management in co-operation with the Deputy Director: Relationship Management and Fundraising;
  • Working with the Deputy Director: Relationship Management and Fundraising to ensure that the Department’s fundraising targets are met;
  • Ensuring that good donor and stakeholder relations are maintained.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A relevant honours degree (e.g. Business Management, Public Relations, Communication and other related fields) or a postgraduate diploma equivalent;
  • Driver’s licence
  • At least five years’ demonstrable track record in fundraising;
  • Strategic planning experience;
  • Experience in financial, administrative and HR management.
  • Experience in building and maintaining stakeholder and investor relations.

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

  • Proven ability to build, manage and develop key stakeholder, client and donor relationships;
  • Financial accounting and cost management knowledge;
  • Fundraising knowledge;
  • Computer literacy (Word, PowerPoint, Excel);
  • Written and oral communication skills;
  • Proficient in PeopleSoft or an equivalent data management system;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Strategic thinking and strong interpersonal skills;
  • Results oriented;
  • Ability and sophistication to interact with business, government, individual donors both local and international foundation and trusts.

 

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

  • Certificate in Advancement and Resource Mobilisation;
  • Relevant leadership/management qualification;
  • Experience in a similar role;
  • Experience in the higher education sector.

 

PLEASE NOTE:

The total remuneration package for this position ranges from approximately R 617 910 to R 766 527 as determined by UP policy guidelines. (These amounts include the University’s contributions to standard UP benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral cover, but exclude contributions to medical aid, as the latter varies per employee.) UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
