This PhD project aims to use machine learning and spatial analytics techniques to understand consumer behavioural patterns in order to support marketers to make strategic decisions. Through working with an international bank, this research aims to provide an integrated view on how consumers’ behavioural patterns interact with various marketing activities. The results can be used to support and enhance targeted marketing activities such as consumers’ reward schemes or website advertisement design. This research will provide new insights for both practitioners and academic researchers.
Skills Required
The ideal PhD candidate of this project will have graduated with a first or second upper honor degree in the numerical area (e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Operational Research, Business Analytics, etc.) and will ideally have experience of using one or more analytical/programming software packages (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.)
Funding
South Coast DTP Funding provides an annual maintenance grant (tax free) of £14553 (2017/18 RCUK rate), plus payment of all programme fees. Other funding available for SCDTP funded students can be found on the SCDTP website (www.southcoastdtp.ac.uk).
Funding is provided for 3 years full-time PhD study (pro-rata for part-time students). Applications for 1+3 funding for students completing a Master's year prior to the commencement of PhD study are also welcome (details available at www.southcoastdtp.ac.uk).
