The Department of Biology of ETH Zurich (www.biol.ethz.ch) invites applications for the above-mentioned position at the Institute of Biochemistry (www.bc.biol.ethz.ch) located at the campus ETH Zurich Hoenggerberg.

Applicants should have an excellent track record in cellular and molecular biology or related fields. The new assistant professor is expected to develop a strong research programme addressing the function and mechanism of dynamic cellular processes. The specific research areas of interest include, but are not limited to, intracellular organisation and logistics (such as cytoskeletal dynamics), membrane biology (such as organelle interactions or force transduction across membranes), nuclear biology (such as chromatin organisation and dynamics), cell signalling, cell division, or cellular diversity and plasticity. Applicants studying non-classical model systems or using interdisciplinary approaches are specifically encouraged to apply. At the assistant professor level, commitment to teaching and the ability to lead a research group are expected.

Assistant professorships have been established to promote the careers of younger scientists. The initial appointment is for four years with the possibility of renewal for a three-year period.
