The Department of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh is recruiting two open-rank (tenure/tenure-stream) faculty positions for the Division of Experimental Pathology. Applicants should have demonstrated research interests in the cellular and molecular basis of liver health and disease. Qualified candidates should possess an M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree with relevant training and experience in the field. Current NIH funding at the level of R01 or equivalent is required. Each successful applicant is expected to possess or to develop a dynamic, extramurally funded research program in the areas identified above. Excellent communication skills and the ability to teach at the graduate and postgraduate levels are highly desirable. The successful candidate will be jointly funded by the Department of Pathology and by the Pittsburgh Liver Research Center (PLRC). The PLRC is a multidisciplinary center that builds on the existing strengths of UPMC, a leader in the delivery of innovative and cutting-edge clinical care, and the University of Pittsburgh, a leader in research, discovery, education, and innovation. Serving as a point of convergence for timely research in liver health and disease, the PLRC bridges the intellectual exchange between clinicians and researchers in the hope of improving the clinical care of liver patients. The Department of Pathology is highly active in research on tissue biology, emphasizes collaborative efforts, and provides support to allow investigators a steady base for launching and advancing a competitive investigative career in biomedical research.
