Summary:

This new role requires an experienced, strategic, energetic and business savvy individual to lead the microfluidic product portfolio at PerkinElmer.

As the leader of the microfluidic division your position will primarily be focused on understanding the microfluidic market and positioning the portfolio for growth, while defining and implement strategies and tactics, targeting specific applications in existing and high growth markets.

This opportunity seeks someone with portfolio leadership experience who will be able to interact and positively influence a diverse, global team.

The individual will manage product life cycle, new product development and global introduction, developing growth strategies focused on new and existing microfluidic market trends, while supporting and maintaining the protein portfolio. As the leader of the microfluidics portfolio the role will also require the management of the microfluidic product manager, providing guidance and tutelage in the pursuit of growth.

The Product leader will interface directly with customers & PerkinElmer staff to understand the existing and future needs of the marketplace and adapt the product portfolio to match those needs. The Product leader will provide support for both new and existing products and will also be asked to support other product management activities, including but not limited to market research, sales support and implementation of product line strategies. The position will interact with Market Development, R&D, Sales, Operations teams and other stakeholders to meet revenue and profitability goals. The ideal candidate will be able to operate independently, exercising good judgment within generally defined practices and policies.


Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create and develop a strategic microfluidic vision and roadmap with the product management team, R&D and operations. Understand the impact of decisions through sensitivity analysis, NPV and other metric driven decision making tools.
  • Develop strong relationships with key commercial customers and key opinion leaders to ensure the product line is kept abreast of new technologies and market developments enabling PKI to stay ahead of the trend.
  • Provide new product development direction and guidance through all stages of the NPI cycle.
  • Provide answers and guidance to operations and sales ranging from quoting, logistics, inventory availability, pricing, profitability, quality challenges, etc.
  • Liaise with the operations team to manage in-life product performance: sales, margin, etc. and understand quarterly performance and impact as a result of executed initiatives.
  • Work with your product management colleagues and staff on product line revenue forecasting and interpretation/decision making on data analyzed in an effort to explore areas of improvement.
  • Prepare and present product sales training & attend scientific tradeshows to demonstrate the automation portfolio capability and product line differentiation.
  • Prepare and Provide new product communication to internal and external customers
  • Analyze and understand market competition and demand in order to determine product development activities.
  • Provide the desired support, technical/ operational for other development & departmental projects when necessary.
  • Review new technologies/ products for OEM opportunities as a means of complementing the existing portfolio.
