Research Assistant in Remote Sensing Science

The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences is a vibrant, multidisciplinary School with extensive teaching and research programs covering the fields of Geology, Geography, Environmental Management, Occupational Health and Safety Sciences and Planning.

The role

The primary purpose of the selected candidate will be to engage as a Research Officer as a part of the Joint Remote Sensing Research Program (JRSP), within the Remote Sensing Research Centre at the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences. The successful candidate will conduct remote sensing science research and development in collaboration with key researchers from the JRSRP.

The person

Applicants should possess a degree in science, environmental science, remote sensing, mathematics, computing science, geographic information systems, or as deemed appropriate. Applicants should also demonstrate Post-tertiary experience in biophysical remote sensing of landscape attributes (preferably including vegetation), time series analysis, scientific computing and image processing, and integration of field and image data sets.

Remuneration

This is a full time, fixed term appointment for two years at Academic level A.

The full-time remuneration package will be in the range $64,533.50 - $87,535.13 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $75,504.20 - $102,416.1 p.a.) (2017 rates).
