The Department of Pathology of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), a principal teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, seeks a suitable candidate for an Associate Medical Director of the Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine Service. The BWH Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine Service is a core component of the BWH, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Boston Children’s Hospital Joint Program in Transfusion Medicine (JPTM). The BWH Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine Service supports a broad range of clinical services, with particular emphasis on oncology, obstetrics, and cardiovascular surgery. The Associate Medical Director will play an important leadership role in directing comprehensive apheresis programs including therapeutic apheresis, stem cell collection, and immune-cell therapy programs. The position will also involve substantial teaching and mentoring of Transfusion Medicine residents and fellows. The position will include a faculty appointment in the Department of Pathology of Harvard Medical School, commensurate with academic achievement, at either the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The environment provides substantial opportunities for clinical and translational research. Applicants should be committed to excellent patient care as well as teaching, scholarship, and clinical or translational research. Candidates should be board eligible/certified in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine and must have or be eligible for a Massachusetts Medical License.
