Details

A fully funded 3-year PhD studentship is available from Summer/Autumn 2018 within the groups of Prof. Peter Slater and Prof Yulong Ding. The project is linked with the recently funded EPSRC GENESIS project on solid state batteries. It will focus on the synthesis of novel materials for application in solid state Lithium ion batteries.

The project is multi-disciplinary, allowing the student to be trained in a range of techniques, including solid state/sol gel synthesis, conductivity measurements, cell testing, X-ray and neutron diffraction.

Funding Notes

Funding will be for at least 3 years and will cover University tuition fees at the UK level and provide the standard tax-free stipend (at the current EPSRC level). Applicants must be UK or EU nationals with a 1st or high upper second class degree (or an equivalent European qualification) in chemistry or a closely related discipline.
