Job Details

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Research Associate to join Dr Paul Race's laboratory in the School of Biochemistry, University of Bristol. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team within the BrisSynBio Synthetic Biology Research Centre, progressing a research project focusing on the discovery and testing of novel natural product based antimicrobials isolated from bacteria from the deep ocean.

You should have, or be close to completing, a PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Microbiology, and have proven technical skills in bacterial cell culture and genetics, protein biochemistry and molecular biology. This highly collaborative project will involve interaction with national and international collaborators, so it is critical that applicants evidence their willingness and ability to work collaboratively with a range of project partners.

You will benefit from access to cutting-edge facilities and infrastructure at the University of Bristol including equipment housed within the BrisSynBio Synthetic Biology Research Centre and the Bristol Biodesign Institute. The post is for 8 months in the first instance.
