The successful applicant must have a PhD, or equivalent experience, in the area of electrical behaviour of high voltage plant such as XLPE power cables. Expertise in the analysis of both laboratory and site data, and the use of numerical modelling tools would also be highly desirable. The role will involve conducting research on an industrially funded research project on power cable status as well as supporting the enterprise agenda of the laboratory. In addition to the above specific research experience, the successful applicant should also be able to present research results at group meetings and conferences, generate project reports, write up research results for publication in leading peer-viewed journals and to work proactively with colleagues across the laboratory to achieve the required project outcomes. The nature of the role will require working across disciplines and will include strong engagement with the sponsor. Excellent organisational and communication skills are a requirement.

Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification.  The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD.  Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
