The Advanced Water Management Centre (AWMC) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence in innovative water technology and management. The role

In collaboration with research and industry partners, the AWMC Wastewater Research Team is developing and demonstrating novel wastewater technologies that maximise energy recovery from wastewater linked to innovative nitrogen removal. Pilot plants will be constructed and commissioned on-site at the collaborative Queensland Urban Utilities Innovation Centre located at Luggage Point Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The position will be responsible for day to day operation of FNA-biogas technology pilot plant systems, and associated scientific, technical and engineering support, both on-site and in AWMC laboratories. The position may also participate in some of operation and maintenance of the pilot sewer system.

 

The person

Applicants should possess qualifications and training equivalent to an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Technology, Science or related field.

You should have a good understanding of water chemistry and wastewater engineering systems, as well as practical understanding of OH&S and HAZOP in wastewater engineering, and of laboratory safety such as handling of biological and chemical hazards. Experience in conducting experimental work in the field of water management at laboratory-, pilot-, and/or full-scale, as well as experience in maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of scientific, mechanical and electrical equipment is essential.

Competency and understanding of process control in particular, PLC systems, and software such as Opto 22, LabView systems or C++will be highly regarded.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 1 year at HEW level 6. The remuneration package will be in the range $74,207 - $79,964 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 9.5% (total package will be in the range $81,256 - $87,561 p.a.).
