GENETIC COUNSELOR ASSISTANT

Job Purpose
The Genetic Counselor Assistant is primarily responsible for providing support to Client Service Representatives and Genetic Counselors. Provides thorough documentation related to all client interactions. Also, assists in various statistical and educational projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Participates in responding to inquiries from clients, which may include general requests, test ordering, reviewing non-critical results and other client service related activities.
• Reviews laboratory reports.
• Communicates non-critical findings to the submitters and/or designated health care professionals, adhering to specific contractual agreements including time sensitive requirements. Thoroughly documents communications and actions taken on these interactions.
• Verifies clinical information provided by clients and communicates information to the lab for result interpretation.
• Obtains and documents clinical diagnoses and outcomes on abnormal results.
• Operates, maintains and updates computer databases and statistical spreadsheets.
• In collaboration with management, performs functions using long-term follow-up list to participate in QA/QC assessment activities and assists with statistical data.
• Participates in company educational sessions.
• Participates in research activities as assigned.
