Senior Officer: Professional Services (post level 9)

Duties and responsibilities:
Inherent requirements:
- BSc Hons in Genetics with a good academic record or a closely related field involving molecular genetics.
Required competencies:
- Experience of operating a genetic analyser.
- Good computer skills (MS Office as well as dedicated software used for the analysis of genetic data from molecular markers).
- Good planning and organisational skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to function well in the university’s parallel medium and richly diverse working environment.
Recommendations:
- MSc degree in Genetics with a good academic record.
- Experience with molecular biology equipment and related protocols (including RNA and DNA preparation, RNA and DNA quantification, PCR and sequencing).
- A good understanding of the theory underlying DNA sequencing.
- A good track record of independent research and data analysis.
- Relevant practical working experience in a GPO-based laboratory.
- Awareness of GLP/ISO 17025 standards.
- Familiarity with the handling of chemicals and scientific equipment.
