Job Details

The University of Bristol is looking for a Head of Governance and Executive Support. This is an exciting opportunity to work with and alongside the University’s Senior Executive Team, in a high profile and fast-paced role.

Set within a broader Division that also encompasses Strategic Programmes, Projects, Planning and Business Intelligence, the Head of Governance and Executive Support ensures the successful and professional delivery of the University’s governance structures and processes as a whole, as well as business improvement processes such as School and Divisional Reviews.

The successful candidate will manage a network of committee secretaries to provide a seamless flow of information across the University and lead a culture of excellence in accountability, compliance and decision-making. You will personally act as Secretary to key governance bodies such as the Board of Trustees.

We are looking for an appropriately experienced, motivated and effective individual who will be able to work under pressure with very senior managers and external stakeholders. You will need to be able to manage and prioritise a varied workload, communicate effectively and build excellent working relationships with staff at all levels of the University. You will have excellent attention to detail, and ensure that all tasks are completed to a high standard and to agreed deadlines.

Experience of governance within a higher education institution, or another complex organisation, would be a significant advantage.

For informal enquiries please contact Steve Chadwick, Director of Planning, Strategy and Change (director-planning@bristol.ac.uk).

The University is committed to creating and sustaining a fully inclusive culture.  We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities.
