A postdoctoral fellowship from Sao Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) is available inside the project "Genes, Genomes & Transposable Elements contribution to plant-microbe interaction: a sugarcane study case." We are looking for a candidate with innovative ideas to study plant-pathogen interaction of sugarcane pathosystems.

The research activity of the successful applicant will be held at Centro de Cana-IAC, Ribeirão Preto in the Biotechnology Lab. The research project involves functional genomics analysis of fungal-cane interactions. Under general supervision of the principal investigator, the candidate will work as part of a team to apply experimental methods to study the first layer of cell communication between the host plant and pathogenic microorganisms.

The project is funded by FAPESP. The laboratory has an excellent infrastructure and a multidisciplinary team to collaborate in the study (http://www.iac.sp.gov.br/areasdepesquisa/cana/).

Candidates must have a recent PhD in Sciences in a topic related to Plant-Pathogen Interactions with prior experience and published papers. Experience in molecular biology and functional genomics analysis are desirable. As such, the successful candidate will collaborate on data generation and preliminary data analysis. Previous experience with sugarcane-fungal pathosystems is a plus.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationalities. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP’s Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 7,174.80 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
