Research Fellow in Virtual sensing for Acoustics and Dynamics

The first component involves the acoustic estimation problem involved in local active sound control at a listener’s ear, as they move their head in a car or aircraft, using fixed remote microphones. Significant progress has recently been made in this area, which has become feasible because of the rapid development of head tracking technology.

The second component of the work involves the combined estimation of the controlled signal and sensor condition in safety-critical control systems. The motivating example for this is the robust estimation of wheel position in aircraft ground-steering control systems.

The position is for two-years due to funding restrictions and could focus on either of these two components and would involve collaboration both with the other Universities involved in the Programme grant and also with the industrial partners with whom we are working on the two motivating applications.
