LECTURER / SENIOR LECTURER (ONE POST)

Responsibilities:

The incumbent will be responsible for:

• Teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;

• Being actively involved in and participating in research;

• Supervising or co-supervising honours, MSc and/or PhD students;

• Publications in peer-reviewed accredited journals;

• Performing administrative and academic responsibilities;

• Being actively involved in and participating in the Sport Science clinical platform.

Minimum Requirements:

Lecturer:

• Master’s degree in Human Movement Science/Sport and/or Exercise Science or equivalent;

• At least five years’ practice experience in Sport Science;

• Minimum of two publications in accredited peer-reviewed journals.

Senior Lecturer:

• PhD in Human Movement Science/Sport and/or Exercise Science or equivalent;

• At least five years’ practice experience in Sport Science;

• Minimum of five publications in accredited peer-reviewed journals;

• Experience as supervisor of postgraduate students (at least two postgraduate students supervised);

• Minimum of three years’ experience in teaching;

• Course/block co-ordinator or equivalent;

• Experience in academic curriculum development and administration.

Required Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behavioural Attributes):

• Strong leadership and communication skills;

• The ability to work with and in a team;

• Experience in academic curriculum development and administration.

Added Advantages and Preferences:

Lecturer:

• Experience as supervisor of postgraduate students.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
