Job Details
As part of that strategy delivery, the Policy Unit focuses on influencing and informing relevant politicians, policy makers and enabling organisations about the strengths of the University as well as on informing the University Group Leadership of key policy drivers and their implications for University practice.
Working within the Policy Unit of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, the Policy Officer will co-ordinate the University responses to government inquiries and to calls for contributions from relevant sector organisations. The post also offers an excellent opportunity to support the development of effective relationships externally and to build new relevant communities of interest internally.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of the UK policy-making process, experience of drafting formal documents and be educated to degree level or equivalent. The post holder will have excellent writing and communication skills as well as a keen understanding of the potential political sensitivities of the work.
The key to successful delivery of the role will be the ability to work cooperatively within the wider VCO team and across a number of virtual teams, working effectively with a broad range of individuals and organisations.
For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Jo Dobson, Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Strategic Relationships) on 07974 984410.
