Research Fellow in Fibrous Filter Media Development

Job Details

Are you an ambitious researcher with experience in computational fluid dynamic (CFD) modelling projects? Are you interested in working on a collaborative project guiding the development of new fibrous filter media?

Working in collaboration with an industrial partner, you will mathematically model and simulate the particle capture and flow characteristics in three-dimensional fibrous filter media, with a view to improving performance in use. The research will involve the development of a new simulation platform for studying the complex particle-fibre interactions during air filtration, to guide the development of new fibrous media capable of enhancing filter efficiency at high flow rates. The project is a collaboration between the Textile Technology Research Group in the School of Design and the Institute of Thermofluids in the School of Mechanical Engineering.

With a PhD in Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering (or submitted thesis for evaluation) you will have experience of research relevant to fluid flow in industrial processes. You will have proven ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team and independently.
